Our Student Support Team is here to help every student feel connected, supported, and ready to learn. We work collaboratively with students, families, teachers, and school staff to identify barriers to success and connect students with the right academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and other supports.

Meet the Team:

Charlotte Geddy, School Counselor

As a school counselor, I help all Mountain View students build skills such as managing emotions, resolving conflicts, making friends, and coping with challenges. I may work with students individually, in small groups, or through classroom lessons, while also collaborating with teachers and families.  I also coordinate the Caring Colts student recognition program and the 5th Grade Leadership Program.  My goal is to help create a fun, safe and supportive school environment where all students can learn and grow.

This is my 19th year as a school counselor and my fifth year at Mountain View. I especially love working with upper elementary students—they’re still kids, but they’re also on the exciting cusp of becoming pre-teens. I’m lucky to be a mom to two Mountain View students, as well as a very energetic golden retriever puppy named Queso! When I’m not at school, you’ll find me enjoying the outdoors, getting crafty, and exploring all that Charlottesville has to offer with my kids.

Kelsey Fernandez, Mental Health Support Specialist

I joined Mountain View in the 25-26 school year! I have over a decade experience working with children and families in various settings. I love working with the MV community and enjoy seeing the joy of the students everyday. When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and listening to podcasts. I am the proud parent of two MV students as well!

As the Mental Health Support Specialist, I provide mental health support to students to increase their social-emotional wellness to succeed in school! I work with students individually and in small groups. My hope is to make school a safe and fun place for students to grow to their full potential, while working closely with students, staff, and parents/guardians.

Allison Ochs, Comprehensive Student Support Specialist

This is my fourth year at Mountain View Elementary, and I am excited to continue serving our students and families in my role as School Support Liaison. Previously serving as our Social-Emotional Learning Coach, I am grateful for the opportunity to continue building relationships and supporting the social-emotional and behavioral needs of our students in this expanded role.

I work closely with Ms. Geddy and Ms. Fernandez to support the whole child. Much of my work centers around building positive relationships with students, helping them navigate friendship and peer conflicts, mediating challenging situations, and providing support with emotional and behavioral regulation both in and out of the classroom. I also enjoy connecting families with community resources and other supports when additional assistance is needed.

In addition to my day-to-day student support, I coordinate Mountain View's mobile dental clinic through Smile Virginia and co-lead our Spirit Committee with our school counselor. I love being part of the many efforts that help students feel connected, supported, and like they truly belong at Mountain View.

Outside of school, I am a mom to three teenagers, which keeps life busy and full of adventure! When I'm not at school or cheering on my kids, I enjoy spending time outdoors and finding ways to stay active and get some exercise. I feel very fortunate to be part of the Mountain View community and look forward to continuing to build meaningful relationships with our students and families.
